Profile: Diana McIntyre-Pike
Mrs. Diana McIntyre-Pike is the Chairman/CEO of Countrystyle International Ltd & the Countrystyle Community Tourism Network which includes Countrystyle Community tours, Countrystyle Institute for Sustainable Tourism (CIST), Countrystyle Community Tourism Consultants. She is the Community Tourism Consultant/Trainer for the Sustainable Communities Foundation through Tourism (SCF) and was the Lead Community Tourism Consultant for the Jamaica Community Tourism Project which was funded by the Caribbean HRD Programme for Economic Competitiveness (CPEC – a CIDA project)
She is the President for the first chapter outside the USA of the International Institute of Peace through tourism (IIPT) and due to her international recognition in pioneering community tourism, inspired the International Institute for Peace through Tourism to create the IIPT Community Tourism Network which involves over 70 countries resulting in her being appointed the Co-coordinator.. She also owns and operates The Astra Country Inn & Restaurant in Mandeville, Jamaica.
She is past Co-Chairman of Unique Jamaica & Chairman of the Unique Jamaica Responsible Tourism & Product Committee, Chairman of NCTVET Central & South Region Committee, Council Member of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association and past Area Chairman of the JHTA South Coast area (for over 19 years), Past Director of the Caribbean Hotel Association (1979 – 2002), past Chairman of UTECH’s School of Hospitality and Tourism which spearheaded the establishment of their Diploma and Degree programmes, Public Relations Officer & Chairman of the Tourism, PR & Membership Committee of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce. She is also an Executive member of the Manchester Wellness Foundation (MANWELL) and the Manchester Parish Development Committee .She is involved in many other community organizations and is committed to the development of communities in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean.
She has worked in England, Germany and Jamaica in hotels and has pioneered the concept of “Community Tourism” throughout Jamaica and together with her partner Barry Bonitto introduced it to the eastern Caribbean especially Anguilla, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Cuba. As Chairman of the Caribbean Hotel Association’s Small Hotels Committee, she executed many projects for the small hotels of the Caribbean, including the creation of the Annual Small Hotels Retreat.
She successfully studied hotel management, catering and tourism in England and Germany, and Tourism and Environmental studies. Mrs. McIntyre-Pike has over 35 years experience in the hospitality industry and is planning to pursue her Masters degree in Sustainable Tourism.
Her expertise is in marketing, public relations, hotel and catering, training and development of personnel in sustainable community tourism and hospitality skills.. In Jamaica she has trained and developed several communities in self-development including etiquette, environment and general knowledge on a voluntary and professional basis and is now a full time Community Tourism Consultant/Trainer. She also offers several courses for the communities and visitors through the Countrystyle Institute at the Astra Country Inn.
The Countrystyle Community Tours have successfully attracted local and overseas visitors to experience the Jamaican culture, heritage, music, cuisine and general way of life. The Countrystyle Village Programme has now become a major feature for “The Community Experience Vacations” in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
