Profile: Barry Bonitto
Barry Bonitto is the Managing Director of Countrystyle International Ltd, the Countrystyle Community Tourism Network and The Astra Country Inn, Mandeville Jamaica, which specializes in the development, and marketing of Community Tourism. He is the Managing Director of the Countrystyle Institute for Sustainable Tourism (CIST) and was directly responsible for setting up the Basic Hospitality Skills Training Programme for rural communities.
He is presently the Chairman and CEO of Bacam Industries Ltd. Previously CEO Caribtel Caribbean Ltd, and was the Implementation Manager (AT&T) Cingular Jamaica Project, He his also a Financial Investment Consultant. Barry is an Aeronautical Engineering by profession.
While attending University Barry joined the Canadian Armed forces Army Reserves and later the Regular Canadian Armed Forces where he served 26 years as a Commission Officer in the Artillery, Infantry and the Air force.
He is the immediate Past President of the National Council of Jamaicans and Supportive Organizations Canada, Past Board member Manitoba Multicultural Council, Past Chairman Quente Regional Police advisory Council Ontario Canada, Past Board Member of the Ontario March of Dimes, Past Board member Council of Presidents Canada and Past Vice President Renascence Financial Group Canada.
He is very involved with several organizations including being President for the National Association of Jamaican and Supportive Organizations (NAJASO) USA for Jamaica, Immediate past President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Executive member of the National Returned Residents Association, Council member the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association. He coordinated the Jamaica Diaspora Conference June 2004 and is on the Board of many Community groups. |
